The gazebo is very sturdily constructed and should last a very long time, but it takes some time and patience to assemble it correctly! It CAN be assembled by one person, but with some creative use of step ladders (6 and 8 helpful!) and painters tape. The only flaw in the instruction manual is the timing of when to add the "Outside Roof Connector", Step 11. Do this AFTER adding the Upper Roof Panels in Step 13. These Panels will get blocked by the Outside Roof Connector if it is already installed. Also, the instructions do not mention it, but you will have to remove and reinstall some connectors as you add more parts to the gazebo. This becomes obvious when new parts line up with already installed connectors, but it is nice to know this in advance so you do not think that you screwed it up. Other helpful hints: use painters tape to secure the large panels after laying them in place. You will need to climb to the top of the gazebo to wrangle these into the slot, and they can easily slide off and do major damage to your neck if a small breeze kicks up.
While I like the gazebo, it could be so much easier if the clips that went on the roof pieces weren’t plastic and in need of double sided tape that doesn’t work very well and takes significant time to apply, stick, and then make sure they stay on while you slide them in the rails.
Do a better job, Kozyard on this process. It shouldn’t be such a flimsy and horribly time consuming process for this part of the project.
Also, use the actual numbers of the screws in the instructions! To have to look at two sets of numbers for the hundreds of different screws is really crazy.
The process of putting this together was TWO DAYS.
I just finished assembling the 10x12 gray Alexander. Other than the roof making a journey from California to Missouri to Arizona, I received all components blemish free. Before starting this project, I watched the Kozyard YouTube build and 2 or 3 additional videos. I highly recommend this!!! Unboxing and inventory takes at least an hour. The hardest piece of the build -- 110% the roof!!!! No question!!! You'll eventually get into a rhythm, but be patient. I built mine on the edge of a pool, so I had challenges getting to certain areas of the roof. Take your time. The instructions are straight forward. You get plenty of extra screws. I recommend using a drill+bit that you can set your torque versus an Allen wrench, however, manually tighten the roof screws or torque your drill to it's lowest setting. Enjoy your build!!
Our gazebo was assembled two people six hours mounted to our track deck with no issues. I am posting a five star review best in class always a smile at the finish line..
Delivered almost too quickly. The poor Fed Ex guy had to deliver after a snow storm. Never trust the groundhog! All the pieces were there, very little damage (some slight dents) during shipping, so well protected. Everything is labeled. Directions are pretty good. Read all the good tips in the reviews and the video out on YouTube. Looks like the manufacturer has made some updates based on customer feedback which I appreciate. I bought an Allen wrench set from Amazon because the ones supplied are small and hurt my hands and I have carpal tunnel. I am a 50 ish year old single woman who has done a few projects before, and I did 98 percent of this on my own in about 3 weekends. Had one friend help me put up the last cross bar to get the structure standing. Holes lined up surprisingly well. Little bit of maneuvering with some pieces. Some went in like butter so nice! I bought this gazebo based on the reviews and I made the right choice! I am now sitting outside, with my dog, in the rain, dry as can be, and watching my birds! So happy with this purchase. Totally worth it!
